Windhorse Sangha Advisory Council
The purpose of the Sangha Advisory Council is to serve Windhorse Zen Community in its mission by improving organization, productivity, and communication among the sangha, the teachers, and the Board of Trustees. The Council’s work will be determined by needs communicated by the sangha, the teachers, and the Board. The Council will report regularly to the Board and teachers with recommendations and updates. We will also report regularly to the sangha via publicly posted meeting minutes. The teachers will continue to bear official decision-making responsibility in most cases, in consultation with the Council and the Board; the Board is responsible for issues that include legal liability, insurance, ethical issues, and significant financial impact.
Project Initiation and Management Process
A person with an idea (“idea person”) presents their idea to the Council via the Project Submission Form.
A council person will be assigned to guide and support the project and will contact the idea person for more information, to collaborate, and to take next steps.
The Council guide will collaborate with the idea person, the teachers, and the Board (if applicable) to decide whether the project is viable and, if so, how to amass and organize resources (human, material, financial, and otherwise), and how to manage and track progress.
The idea person will keep the Council guide updated on progress, needs, unexpected challenges or changes, etc. at predetermined intervals.
Project is completed, or maintained indefinitely if cyclical in nature (or, if need be, abandoned or postponed).
We need your involvement!
If you have questions or if you’ve got time and energy to dedicate to WZC projects, email us at council@windhorsezen.org. We have many ways to plug in and be of service to our dharma community!
